Our Story

A Practice Founded on Reliable Counsel

Wawasan Legal was established in Kuala Lumpur with a straightforward conviction: that individuals and businesses seeking to build a life or operation in Malaysia deserve honest, competent advice — not generic information packaged as professional services.

Our founders spent years in corporate legal practice before identifying a persistent gap in the market. Many firms treated immigration as a secondary line of work, routing clients through junior staff and relying on standardised checklists. Wawasan was created to offer something different — focused expertise, direct communication, and genuine accountability at every step.

Over the years we have worked with expatriate professionals relocating for new roles, spouses rebuilding their lives beside a Malaysian partner, long-term residents consolidating their status through the MyPR route, and corporations managing the complexity of regional talent mobility. Each engagement has strengthened our understanding of the process and sharpened our ability to prepare applications that hold up under scrutiny.

Today we operate from our office in Menara Wawasan along Jalan Tun Razak — a central location chosen deliberately so that clients can meet us in person when it matters. We take on a considered number of files at any one time, maintaining quality over volume.

Our Mission

Expertise & Values

An Advisory Practice Grounded in Practical Knowledge

Malaysian immigration law is governed primarily by the Immigration Act 1959/63 and associated regulations, administered by the Immigration Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia). The framework is subject to periodic revision — most recently in the area of EP salary thresholds and the criteria applied to Expatriate Committee evaluations for corporate clients. Keeping pace with these changes is central to the value Wawasan Legal provides.

Our work spans individual and corporate mandates. For individuals, the process typically begins with an eligibility conversation — understanding the applicant's qualifications, employment offer, and personal circumstances — before any documents are prepared. For corporate clients, the starting point is often a workforce audit: understanding which employees are posted to Malaysia, which permits are current, and where renewal or escalation to PR status may be appropriate.

Kuala Lumpur's status as a regional hub for finance, technology, professional services, and manufacturing means that international professionals and their families arrive regularly, each with distinct needs. Wawasan Legal is structured to provide a consistent and considered service regardless of the complexity of the file — from a straightforward first EP application to a multi-year corporate retainer covering dozens of expatriate employees.

We believe that the quality of an immigration file reflects directly on the quality of the advice behind it. That principle drives every aspect of how we operate.
